XPS (extruded polystyrene) is not a new or untested material. In Fact it was first developed in the 1940's by the Dow Chemical Company and even used to make lifeboats during world War ll. Once the war ended , the durability and versatility of XPS quickly found a home in the construction industry. Since then , XPS has been used globally as insulation in walls, foundations and ceilings.
